Business Challenge
ALSPEC sought an independent IT Review to determine the future strategic direction and priorities for the business. The review involved interviews with the Executive Team, Branch Management, Key Staff and the IT Team.
IT Strategy Results
ALSPEC engaged Combined Management Consultants (CMC) to conduct the IT Review and write the IT Strategy. The assessment included a review of the current IT systems and IT operations to determine the effectiveness of the processes, communications and resources in place.
As a result, CMC developed an IT Strategic Roadmap that identified critical path initiatives and gaps between the business strategy and IT direction.
The roadmap included:
- A portfolio of initiatives and workstreams to support a 3 – 5 year IT Strategy Action Plan.
- A thorough assessment of the IT team structure, policies, procedures, job descriptions, and individual skills.
- An evaluation of User Support/Help Desk services, including application and hardware support.
The IT Strategy and Plan received positive reception from the business, leading to the implementation of the recommendations.
Consequently, the strategic approach CMC recommended aligned with ALSPEC’s commitment to continuous improvement and investment in research and development. This ensured the application of latest technologies and design principles to their extensive range of aluminium systems and products.
The successful implementation enabled ALSPEC to strengthen its position as an industry leader. It also supported its vision to growth and continue to excel in aluminium design, distribution, and service in Australia.
