ERP Strategy Background

Fantastic Holdings owned several brands, including Plush, Dare Galleries, Le Cornu, Royal Comfort Bedding, and Fantastic Lounge Factory. Each brand used different business systems and applications. This created inefficiencies and limited the business’s ability to operate on a stable, cost-effective platform.

Fantastic Holdings wanted to streamline its business processes and information systems. Their goal was to build a strong foundation to support significant future growth.

Business Requirement

Fantastic Holdings needed clarity on the projects and deliverables required to build this platform. They also needed facilitation and executive support for the Steering Committee to set direction and prioritise the key project – replacing the Retail ERP and POS systems.

Results

CMC joined the Logistics and IT Steering Committee. They worked with Fantastic Holdings to develop an ERP Strategy and Strategic Information Systems Plan (SISP). This plan defined the project portfolio and cost estimates for each initiative.

CMC categorised projects as Quick Wins, Foundation, or Primary. Once approved by the Steering Committee, Quick Win and Foundation projects began. These created the foundation for K1 – the Point of Sale and Retail ERP replacement project.

Fantastic Holdings then conducted a thorough evaluation and selection process. They chose Manhattan WMS for the primary distribution centre. Next, they implemented POS and Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP. The program also included ERP training and change management.

After the ERP Strategy delivery, they standardised master data and completed clean-up activities. This ensured the ERP and POS implementation was not delayed by inconsistent data standards.

The Fantastic Holdings project team completed detailed design workshops with the vendor. They successfully implemented Release 1 of the project.

CMC continued to support Fantastic with their Warehouse Management implementation.

We found CMC’s consultants to be diligent and highly professional and as such have engaged CMC for a number of projects including the development of a Strategic Information Systems Plan (SISP) focusing on process improvement and IT services for our multiple brands
