Background

Glencore were planning a technical upgrade from MIM Ellipse 8.3 to 9.0 core ERP system. The upgrade included Finance, HR, Payroll, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Procurement & Contracts, HSEC and Training Services. The divisions of Glencore included MIM NQ and NT Copper and Zinc Asset business.

The organization sought an experienced Change Manager to support the Technical Upgrade Project.

Business Challenge

Glencore did not have a Change Manager on staff and recognized this resource would be critical to the success of the project.

Results

Combined Management Consultants provided a Change Manager for Glencore’s Technical Upgrade Project of Ellipse. CMC’s consultant recommended a Business Engagement program. The consultant recommended a Business Engagement program, which involved a rapid change impact and readiness engagement analysis across Northern Queensland and the Northern Territory. The consultant developed the Change Strategy, Change Engagement and Communications Plan, and overall Stakeholder and Training and Test Management Plan.

CMC initiated a “Gap Training” program, supported by a robust 3 Phase Testing Program. This program ensured functional, cross-functional, and integration testing via an “integrated” hyper-care support model.

CMC’s consultant mentored the Program Manager in establishing stage-gate criteria for business engagement and sign-off for each stage gate, including “go live”.

The project concluded on time and within budget.
