Background
Real Pet Food Company is the largest independent manufacturer of pet food in Australia and New Zealand. The company operates 6 manufacturing plants throughout Australia. Their key focus is on Natural and Organic pet food. Brands include VIP Pet Foods, Australian Pet Brands, Natures Gift and Game Meat Processing (GMP).
The company has a long history of using QAD ERP to support the business but has not upgraded to the later version for some time.
Business Challenge
Real Pet Food Company was looking to address several critical functional gaps that existed in their current ERP and related systems. These gaps were creating significant issues in the areas of Manufacturing, Cost Control, Trade Spend and Contract Management. Timely Reconciliation and Reporting across the business was also an issue.
ERP Strategy Results
Real Pet Food engaged Combined Management Consultants (CMC) to provide independent ERP advice and guidance to assess the best way forward in terms of their Business Systems Strategy.
CMC’s consultants worked with the business to:
- Assess the capability of QAD’s ERP software to meet Real Pet Food’s specific functional requirements following their completion of the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire.
- Establish a Common Operating Model (COM) that identified common, agreed processes that will operate across all the sites. These will replace the disparate processes that currently exist across various RPF locations. The COM will provide the foundation for the business moving forward with the QAD ERP solution upgrade.
- The COM deliverable was drafted following detailed workshops and negotiated agreement with participants from the operating sites across the business on what the standard processes needed to be moving forward.
