Business Challenge

ALSPEC was seeking an independent review to determine the future strategic IT priorities of the business and to develop a plan incorporating both internal and external resources that enables delivery of all critical elements in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

IT Strategy Results

CMC conducted a review of the current Information Systems and associated IT operations to determine the effectiveness of the processes, communications and resources currently in place at ALSPEC. The review involved interviews with the Executive Team, Branch Management, Key Staff and the IT Team.

An IT Strategic Roadmap of the critical path initiatives was developed. This identified the gaps that existed in the alignment of the business strategy with current IT direction and Information Systems platform. The review also included:

  • Definition of a portfolio of initiatives and sub projects underpinning an Action Plan to support the IT Strategy for the next 3 – 5 years.
  • A review IT team structure, IT policies and procedures, job descriptions, individual skills and competencies and team delivery.
  • A review of User Support/Help Desk services including application and hardware support, workday coverage and communications.

The IT Strategy and Plan was well received by the business and the organisation went on to implement the recommendations.
