Background

ALSPEC, a major player in the aluminium industry designs and distributes aluminium systems to the architectural, industrial and home improvement markets.

Business Challenge

ALSPEC needed to replace their ageing ERP and WMS legacy systems that would hinder the growth of the business.

The challenge was to determine the most appropriate ERP & WMS Vendor and Solution that would support the 7 sites nationally.

ERP Evaluation Results

ALSPEC engaged Combined Management Consultants (CMC) to conduct an independent ERP & WMS Evaluation process.

The project was delivered according to CMC’s Evaluation Methodology. This included:

  1. Requirement Identification: CMC conducted strategic workshops to assess ALSPEC’s future direction and identify key business requirements.
  2. ERP Program Strategy: CMC developed a strategy to address critical areas of ALSPEC’s business requirements.
  3. ERP & WMS Selection: After careful evaluation, ALSPEC chose Microsoft Dynamics AX as their ERP solution and Manhattan Associates’ Scale as their WMS.
  4. WMS Implementation: CMC successfully implemented the Manhattan Scale WMS in Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, and Melbourne over a 12-month period.
  5. Change Management: CMC provided WMS and Organisational Change Management support to ALSPEC’s Transition and Training Manager to ensure effective implementation of the new systems.

Several strategic workshops were held to assess the future direction of the business and to document the functional requirements.

Subsequently, CMC offered additional services to ALSPEC, including:

  • Resolving key operational issues and documenting implemented solutions.
  • Developing detailed specifications for crucial functional improvements, such as project order management and non-conformance reporting.
  • Providing functional and business process consulting to address issues arising from the Dynamics AX and Scale implementation.

CMC continued to support ALSPEC with consulting services on an as required basis, ensuring the success of the new ERP and WMS systems.
