Background

Sandvik Mining and Construction (SMC) is a leading global supplier of equipment and tools services and technical solutions for the mining industry. The offering covers rock drilling rock cutting rock crushing loading and hauling and materials handling.

The Conveyor Components business in Australia had recently consolidated all business and financial transactions within a single ERP system (Pronto) allowing them to transact directly with the end customer.

Business Challenge

Sandvik required an experienced Senior Project Manager with knowledge of both the Pronto and Aurora systems and with previous Sandvik knowledge with to oversee the transition to deliver a single ERP system for the Conveyor Component business.

Results

CMC’s Project Manager worked with the business to help rework business processes and manage the transition successfully to transfer the Conveyor Components businesses into the Pronto Live environment.

The project provided the following benefits:

  • Immediate inventory stock visibility across all warehouse holdings.
  • Overall demand visibility across sales orders from the Production facility.
  • Removed redundant interfaces between systems – both operational and reconciliation based.

Pronto ERP was configured to deliver the new agreed business processes. CMC managed the data conversion of existing Aurora records into Pronto and led the User Acceptance Testing phase. CMC was also responsible for the inventory buy back process and cut-over schedule for Go Live.

There were also several legal, financial, administrative and change management activities that needed to be managed. The project was successful and resulted in streamlined common business processes across the organisation.

We engaged CMC to sort out an existing business-critical application and many of the interrelated and outstanding business issues. This was done highly effectively and without fuss
