Background

HIH Winterthur was a major national Insurance organisation created through the merger of CIC and CE Heath Insurance. The merger process had been completed and it was time to implement the application and infrastructure architecture strategy for the business, in order to realise some of the benefits mooted during the merger process.

Business Challenge

Following the successful merger of CIC Insurance and CE Heath Insurance, HIH Winterthur had a requirement to standardise their desktop and server environments. It was also necessary to rollout a corporate mail service for the business (based on Lotus Notes) and to establish a Video Conferencing facility for all the State Head Offices.

Results

CMC was appointed to scope, establish and deliver a program of projects with a budget of $7.5 million.

Twelve projects were defined including Server Design, Desktop Design, Notes Architecture Design, Enterprise Management (using IBM Tivoli) and the supporting projects necessary to roll out training, video conferencing and Lotus Notes Mail. The significant change program required training courseware to be developed and delivered to all 42 HIH offices nationally.

The projects were all delivered on time and below budget.
