Platinum Cables supplies standard and specialized copper and fiber optic cables to specific target industries. Moreover, the organization takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and a high-quality customer experience.
Business Challenge
In order to support future growth, Platinum Cables sought to implement a fully integrated ERP and WMS to eliminate manual processes and improve efficiency across all business areas.
Consequently, the company engaged CMC to conduct an independent ERP & WMS Evaluation to determine the best ERP & WMS Vendor and Solution to meet the needs of the business for the next 5 – 10 years.
As a result, the following key objectives were defined:
- Integrate ERP and WMS with one set of Master Data.
- Automate workflow processes and improve business rules.
- Enhance the accuracy of business and financial reports.
- Simplify work processes to reduce manual effort and task completion time.
- Minimize workload and human errors from manual data re-entry.
- Reduce reliance on MS Excel across the business.
- Improve information flow with full traceability of purchase orders (POs) and shipments.
- Increase visibility into Quote Management.
- Enhance inventory accuracy and control.
- Streamline warehouse management processes.
ERP & WMS Evaluation Results
CMC facilitated an independent ERP & WMS evaluation, providing Platinum Cables with clear decision points throughout the process. Subsequently, CMC collaborated with Business Process Owners to define technical requirements using its Business Scenario Methodology, including a “Day in the Life Of” scenario to guide vendor presentations.
We then managed the RFP process, organized vendor presentations, and offered technical advice during due diligence to support decision-making.
The team prepared a Vendor Selection Report for the Executive Team, enabling the preferred vendor to proceed to the Design Stage.
CMC continues to provide CIO Services on an as required basis to Platinum Cables.
