Background

Tilling began as a small factory in VIC in November 1963. They import structural timber from overseas and some local suppliers. Tilling also produces cedar lining products using imported timber. They are one of Australia’s largest wholesalers of Engineered Wood Products, including the SmartFrame range. Tilling recognized their need for an ERP Evaluation to find a new ERP Solution.

Tilling operates five sites in capital cities across Australia. They sell over 30 million lineal meters of timber annually.

Business Challenge

Tilling faced significant challenges with their existing ERP system due to expansion and high sales volume. Stock management, production, and import purchasing were particularly problematic. They needed to retain some features of their existing system but address many shortcomings that cost time and effort in daily operations.

The company decided to evaluate and implement a new integrated ERP system. This system would support ongoing growth, reduce manual processes, and improve efficiencies in various areas.

ERP Evaluation Results

CMC was engaged to conduct an independent ERP Evaluation Process. CMC facilitated a Vendor Pre-Qualification process to shortlist suitable vendors and solutions. They then worked with Tilling to document Key Business Scenarios.

CMC managed the RFP process, Vendor Presentations, and Due Diligence. They provided CIO Services to support decision-making. Tilling selected their preferred vendor and proceeded to implementation.
