Background
Bisalloy Steel manufactures high-strength and wear-resistant quenched and tempered steel plates.
CMC had completed an IT Strategy for Bisalloy. The IT Strategy highlighted the need for Bisalloy to enhance their IT and ERP systems’ capabilities to support profit and growth targets, as well as protect the company’s long-term sustainability. Several Workstreams were recommended.
Prior to this, Bisalloy used several legacy systems in its steel processing plant, including an AS/400, a DB2 Data Warehouse, and Honeywell Experion.
CMC managed the Proof of Concept based on SAP B1 with an add-on called BEAS for Manufacturing. Bisalloy approved the project, leading to a Detailed Scoping and Design Phase.
Business Challenge
Bisalloy recognized the critical need for strong project management and change management to ensure a successful implementation of the new SAP B1 ERP system.
The company understood that transitioning from legacy systems to a modern, integrated ERP solution would require careful planning and execution. Additionally, Bisalloy needed a comprehensive understanding of the work effort required for the entire project
To address this, CMC prepared a detailed Project Plan for the advanced manufacturing implementation of SAP B1 with BEAS on the HANA Platform.
Project Management Results
CMC was engaged as the Project Manager to work collaboratively with the SAP B1 Vendor and key Bisalloy stakeholders. CMC identified the necessary resources, constraints, dependencies, and timeframes for the project.
Through this collaborative effort, stakeholders agreed on deliverables, and approved the project approach to proceed.
The implementation of SAP B1 at Bisalloy involved integrating various business processes and transitioning from legacy systems. Despite the challenges, CMC completed the project on time and within budget.
This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of CMC’s project management approach and their ability to navigate complex ERP implementations in the manufacturing sector.
The successful implementation of SAP B1 has positioned Bisalloy to leverage modern ERP capabilities. The ERP has increased productivity and throughput at Bisalloy’s plant ensuring more efficient operations.
