Background
A division of Telstra deployed, managed, and maintained the national network of public and private payphones. Telstra aimed to introduce more flexible payment options, particularly the Telstra Phonecard.
Business Challenge
Telstra announced the release of Phonecard phones and planned to sell Phonecards through Agencies, Post Offices, and Newsagents. However, no system existed to manage distribution or ordering.
Results
CMC led a Requirements Analysis and RFI process to help Telstra select a distribution and financials system for the Phonecard launch.
After assessing the market, CMC selected Oracle Financials for part of the solution. CMC designed and built the remaining functionality as a bespoke system using Oracle development tools. Key features included Order Processing, Sales Analysis, Financial Reporting, Oracle Financials integration, and Inventory Management.
CMC also managed the implementation. The deadline was fixed due to a major marketing campaign tied to the system’s release.
CMC delivered the system nationally, on time and on budget. The successful delivery led Payphones Management to invite CMC to manage further projects.
Over the next eight years, CMC supported Telstra Payphone Services. Projects included the GIS System, Payphone Profitability System, SDLC, and the Mobile Payphone System.
