Background

Roland Corporation Australia (Roland) imports and distributes a wide range of Roland-branded musical instruments and audio equipment, including pianos, keyboards, synthesizers, electronic percussion kits, digital recording tools, amplifiers, and audio processing devices.

Business Challenge

To keep pace with evolving technology and customer expectations, Roland sought to expand its CRM, Portal, and ERP capabilities. This required upgrading its technical environment to support modern features such as social media integration and eCommerce. Recognising the limitations of their existing systems, Roland’s leadership initiated a formal ERP evaluation to identify a platform that could support their future growth and digital strategy.

ERP Evaluation

Roland engaged CMC to lead a focused and practical ERP Evaluation and Selection process. CMC guided Roland through a structured methodology that included:

  • Developing tailored Business Demonstration Scenarios to reflect Roland’s operational needs.
  • Issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to a shortlist of pre-qualified ERP Vendors.
  • Creating a weighted Scoring Matrix to objectively compare Vendor responses.
  • Coordinating scenario-based Vendor Demonstrations.
  • Compiling a comprehensive Vendor Selection Report to support decision-making.

Following the evaluation, Roland selected their preferred ERP Vendor and Solution and implemented Sage X3. CMC continued to support the project by providing project management expertise, tools, and strategic advice as needed.
