Background

The merger of the Australian Wool Marketing Authority and the Australian Wool Board created duplicate processes across two legacy ERP systems: SAP and Microsoft Great Plains

Business Challenge

Australian Wool found its ERP systems outdated and unable to meet key business needs. The organisation sought help from an independent consulting firm with a proven vendor and software evaluation methodology.

Results

Australian Wool engaged CMC to guide and mentor staff using CMC’s Software Evaluation Method. Together, they identified business requirements and ran a structured ERP evaluation and selection process.

CMC first conducted a vendor pre-qualification to assess capability, experience, and likely pricing. This process determined which vendors progressed to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage. Australian Wool chose SAP as the replacement ERP because it could handle multiple currencies.

Australian Wool also engaged CMC to develop a Change Management Strategy and Communications Plan for the ERP project. CMC provided client-side ERP and business systems strategy, along with project management support throughout design, build, and implementation.

CMC have proven evaluation methodologies, which we find easy to follow. This together with their experience and collaborative approach ensured a great outcome for our business. This engagement resulted in significant cost savings for AWI
