Background
Dairy Farmers manufacture and distribute milk, dairy products, and fruit juices across Australia. IBM GSA provided IT consulting services to Dairy Farmers and asked CMC to supply Program Management to oversee several key projects needed to meet critical business outcomes.
Business Challenge
The milk industry in NSW and Queensland was undergoing deregulation. To comply, Dairy Farmers needed significant changes to their systems and infrastructure. Milk Vendors transitioning to Franchise Owners required a PC-based Order Management and Sales Analysis application to integrate with Distribution Centres. At the same time, the Distribution Centres needed new systems to manage the order fulfilment process efficiently.
The most urgent requirement was to deliver a centralised weekly billing system for the supermarket groups. Dairy Farmers needed this system implemented and fully tested before deregulation took effect.
Program Management Results
CMC managed multiple critical projects over a two-year period.
They led the replacement of applications at all Distribution Centres across Australia and integrated them with existing head office systems. CMC formed a training team that developed support materials and delivered training to Franchise Owners and Distribution Centre staff throughout NSW and Queensland.
CMC also created a testing team to ensure quality across the Franchise Owner systems. The team applied CMC’s Testing Methodology and used Mercury Interactive’s automated testing tools.
CMC engaged a business partner to develop the Franchise Owner system. Most Franchise Owners in NSW and Queensland adopted and implemented this new software.
Finally, CMC delivered the centralised billing function and enabled remote order entry from the Franchise Owner systems, successfully completing implementation before the deregulation deadlines.
