Background

Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries NSW (SMC NSW) was established in 2012 after the NSW Government approved a reform program related to the management of cemeteries and crematoria on Crown, local government and private land in NSW. The SMC NSW is responsible for the management and governance of the Woronora Memorial Park and the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park.

Business Challenge

SMC NSW was looking to implement a new integrated and streamlined Cemetery Management and Finance System to support ongoing growth, reduce manual processes and to improve efficiencies in the areas of financial and management reporting, sales and marketing, customer care, facilities management and maintenance across the two sites.

The scope of the initial implementation was Woronora Memorial Park operations as well as the Finance/Administration function. Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park will be implemented separately once a proven operational template has been proven at Woronora.

Results

CMC was been engaged to facilitate an independent and auditable Evaluation Process to determine which Cemetery Management and Finance System solution would best support the business moving forward. CMC’s Evaluation Methodology was utilised to assess the Vendors and their Solutions.

CMC prepared the Business Requirements and Request for Proposal utilising CMC’s Business Scenarios. SMC NSW then decided on a shortlist of Vendors to progress to the Demonstrations. A preferred Vendor was selected following extensive reference checking and due diligence. SMC NSW then proceeded to the Design stage with the preferred Vendor.

CMC is providing ongoing CIO Services and Project Management to support the activities that will required for a successful implementation.
