Background

Real Pet Food (RPF) is the largest independent Pet Food manufacturer in Australia and New Zealand. The company operates 6 manufacturing plants throughout Australia. RPF primarily focuses on Natural and Organic pet food and includes brands such as VIP Pet Foods, Australian Pet Brands, Natures Gift and Game Meat Processing (GMP).
The company has a long history of using QAD to support the business but has not upgraded to the later version for some time.

Business Challenge

RPF was looking to address a number of critical functional gaps that exist in their current ERP (QAD) and related systems. These functional gaps were creating significant issues in the areas of Manufacturing, Cost Control, Trade Spend, Contract Management and timely Reconciliation and Reporting across the business.

ERP Strategy Results

CMC was engaged to provide independent ERP advice and guidance to evaluate, assess and determine best way forward for the business in terms of their Business Systems Strategy.
CMC’s consultants worked with the business to:

  • Assess the capability of QAD’s latest ERP software to meet RPF specific functional requirements following their completion of the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire.
  • Establish a Common Operating Model (COM) that identified common, agreed processes that will operate across all of RPF operational sites. These will replace the disparate processes that currently exist across various RPF locations. The COM will provide the foundation for the business moving forward with the QAD ERP solution upgrade.
  • The COM deliverable was drafted following detailed workshops and negotiated agreement with participants from the operating sites across the business on what the standard RPF processes needed to be moving forward.

CMC’s consultants were a huge asset to our ERP project team and really helped us at a critical time with keeping our project on track
