AUSTA Electric was a major generator of energy resources in Queensland. There were many locations and requirements for service and equipment throughout the State.
The problem was to investigate whether a streamlined Procurement System could substantially rationalise and reduce the amount of effort required to purchase spare parts as well as to minimise the cost associated with the high level of inventory holdings.
A Prototype Application was developed using RAD techniques and Oracle Designer. The Prototype proved that the consolidation of Procurement processes would offer an opportunity for substantial cost savings in the business and provide a good foundation for the creation of a Requirements Document for the tender process to select an appropriate ERP solution.
