Optus were planning to launch the C1 Satellite in August 2003. The Satellite was designed to have 14 transponders specifically allocated to delivery of Foxtel Digital services. A tightly constrained program was required to ensure that all facets of the service delivery of the transponders to Foxtel were executed as contractually agreed. There were serious financial penalties associated with late delivery.
Optus Satellite required an experienced Executive Program Manager, familiar with Satellite Project Concepts to manage the team that was delivering the services to Foxtel. Due to the highly technical nature of the project, a diverse range of expertise was required to deliver the solution.
A CMC Project Executive was appointed to the project. The C1 Satellite was successfully deployed by Optus. The transponders were prepared and deployed to deliver Foxtel Digital services. The project was delivered in time and under budget.
