Background
Manassen Foods is a privately owned Australian company. Established in 1948, the organisation is a distributor to the multi-faceted FMCG industry.
Manassen had engaged with Intentia (now Lawsons) to deploy the Movex ERP solution to replace business legacy systems. Manassen were requiring a Project Manager to establish the governance for the project and to interact with the Vendor and the business to manage the project going forward.
Business Challenge
There were few resources in the business with ERP implementation experience or availability. In-house logistics and warehouse design expertise was also required.
The warehouse network for the client was not set up to take advantage of the Advanced Warehouse Management business processes offered by Movex. There were also no resources in the business available to document the business processes that would underpin the new workflows introduced by the implementation of the package.
Results
CMC was engaged to establish the initial Project Framework and Project Plan. It was agreed that the organisation also required a Logistics and Warehousing specialist and a Business Process expert to perform the critical elements of the implementation. Ongoing management of the project was transferred to the in-house IT Manager.
CMC’s Warehouse Management specialist was engaged to transform the existing warehouses to a more effective model, standardising processes and getting accurate control of Use By Dates and Picking selections.
A Warehouse renumbering strategy and migration plan were submitted for approval and subsequently implemented. The warehouse ERP rollout was amended from a “big bang” to a Phased approach; recognising the availability and capability of the business to absorb the transition.
A highly experienced Business Processes Modeller was also engaged to create testing and training documentation, as well as to identify and document the processes that would need to be conducted by business staff in order to utilise the ERP solution and manage the business.
Following the initial implementation, CMC’s Program Manager put together a Program Charter and Schedule for the rollout. This also included an Infrastructure Assessment.
