Witchery Group (Witchery and Mimco) are leaders in the fashion retail business. The organisation was continuing to grow and Witchery wanted to improve customer service and internal processes. The legacy ERP systems that the company was operating on were unable to support the domestic and international growth objectives of the business. Key initiatives such as the streamlining of Allocation and Replenishment to the retail stores was recognised as providing early opportunities for realising benefits. The retailer also required a new ERP platform to assist in executing their Omni Channel strategy in the future.
Witchery required a modern, scalable business system to replace the existing, heavily customised Witchery and Mimco legacy systems. The development of a Common Operating Model (CMO) across the two businesses was also acknowledged as an opportunity for improving business operations.
An interim Allocations and Replenishment capability was urgently required to better support inventory management for the retail stores and to enable a higher sell through rate. Project Management and IT related processes also needed streamlining in order to better support the multiple projects within the business.
The existing IT Service Desk System and Group Services Team were disbanded and replaced with a number of full and part time internally staffed roles, including:
- Project Management Office (PMO) Manager
- Change and Transition Manager
- Business Analysts
- Business Project Managers
These roles were supported and mentored by the CMC team, as well as a specialist senior retail consultant directly engaged by the business. A Steering Committee was established to oversee and govern the various business projects.
CMC’s Senior Consultant led an Evaluation and Selection process and two new business systems were selected. AP21 and MapleLake are now being implemented. An interim Allocation and Replenishment system based on MS Excel was developed by CMC in conjunction with Witchery and the specialist retail consultant to enable Witchery to gain experience in the model and to deliver early benefits to the business.
CMC then provided Organisational Change Management Support and Training and is continuing to provide consultancy support with other initiatives such the Time and Attendance Project and PMO.
