Background
As a result of the merger between the Australian Wool Marketing Authority and the Australian Wool Board there was a duplication of processes between two legacy ERP systems – SAP and Microsoft Great Plains.
Business Challenge
AWI realised that the current ERP systems were outdated and no longer met key business requirements. AWI required assistance from an independent consulting organisation that had a proven Vendor and Software Evaluation Methodology.
Results
CMC was engaged to guide and mentor AWI staff in the use of CMC’s Evaluation and Selection Methodology to systematically identify business requirements and to conduct all activities necessary to evaluate and select a suitable replacement ERP for the organisation.
An initial vendor pre-qualification process was conducted to assess the capability, experience and likely pricing models for potential solutions. The result of this determined which vendors moved through to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage. AWI made a decision to implement SAP as one of their key requirements was the ability of the solution to handle multiple currencies.
AWI also engaged CMC to assist with Change Management Strategy and a Communications Plan for the ERP Project. CMC provided client sided ERP and Business Systems Strategy and Project Management Support for the Implementation of SAP through the Design, Build and Implement stages.
