ALSPEC are a major player in the design and distribution of aluminium systems to the architectural, industrial and home improvement markets.

ALSPEC were looking to identify a replacement ERP & WMS solution for their ageing legacy systems that could no longer support the growth in their business. The stages of the project have been to design, build and implement a new ERP and Warehouse Management Solution across seven sites nationally.

Business Challenge

The challenge was to determine the most appropriate ERP & WMS for ALSPEC going forward. This relied on a process of identifying the organisation’s requirements so that the business could make an appropriate decision.

ERP Evaluation Results

CMC project managed the ERP & WMS Evaluation process to determine the most appropriate ERP & WMS for the business moving forward. A number of strategic workshops were held to assess the future direction on a number of key areas in order to enable planning to commence prior to the design stage of the ERP implementation.

An ERP Program Strategy was put in place to address critical areas of the business requirement. Microsoft Dynamics AX was selected as the ERP solution and Manhattan Associates was selected to implement Scale as the Warehouse Management Solution (WMS). The new Warehouse Management Solution (Manhattan Scale) was successfully implemented in Sydney and Brisbane, Newcastle and Melbourne over a 12-month timeframe.

CMC also provided WMS and Organisational Change Management to ALSPEC’s Transition and Training Manager to deliver an effective program of change for the future.

Other CMC services included:

  • Expertise to resolve several key issues that had been adversely impacting ALSPEC’s operations and document the solutions implemented.
  • Detailed specifications for the delivery of key functional improvements – including project order management, net requirements inquiry, date management and non-conformance reporting/management.
  • Functional and business process consulting to resolve issues arising from the Dynamics AX and Scale implementation and rollout.

CMC continued to support ALSPEC with consulting services on an as required basis.
