Background

John Holland Rail had been operating the business of managing the Country Regional Network for the NSW Government for over twelve months. A business systems assurance review was conducted to identify areas where business systems, reporting and operations could be further improved.

Business Challenge

Due to their history with the CRN team and proven capability in this area, the business engaged CMC to conduct a strategic review focusing on the above. An independent report would enable the organisation to assess and identify:

  • System integrity and ability to properly service stakeholder requirements.
  • Completeness and accuracy of data and identify source of any errors or omissions.
  • Key system risks and issues requiring attention.
  • Identify opportunities for business efficiency gains.

Results

Two reports were delivered, the first being the Business Systems Assurance Report and the second, a CRN Remediation and Improvements Report. The reports included the identification of prioritised initiatives and a program of works to address agreed areas of improvement. CMC are assisting CRN on an ongoing basis to provide governance and project management support to the initiatives.
