Background

RP Infrastructure is a professional services consulting firm focused on advisory and project management solutions across the entire infrastructure construction spectrum.

The company had undergone rapid growth over the past few years and were experiencing administrative ‘overload’ in managing financial and project reporting requirements and ‘real time’ reporting of management data. RP Infrastructure had aggressive growth targets which included mergers and acquisitions over the next few years in Australia and NZ.

Business Challenge

The current systems were no longer supporting the key requirements of the business which included:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Project Management
  • Integrated Resource Management
  • Management Reporting

RP Infrastructure recognised the need to engage an independent and experienced consulting organisation to assist them with an ERP Software and Vendor Evaluation to support the business for the next 5 – 10 years.

ERP Evaluation Results

The company engaged CMC to facilitate an independent and auditable ERP Evaluation Process.

CMC conducted workshops with the Business Process Owners to define RP Infrastructure’s business and technical requirements using CMC’s Business Scenario Methodology.  This also included a “Day in the Life Of” Business Scenario was also developed to guide the Vendor Presentations.

CMC project managed the RFP process, the Vendor Presentations and provided technical advice to support the due diligence and decision-making process. A Vendor Selection Report was prepared for the Executive Team and RP Infrastructure proceeded with the implementation of their preferred solution.

The new ERP solution has provided RP Infrastructure with the following benefits:

  • A fully integrated ERP system (one source of truth) that streamlines business processes and reporting.
  • The ability to quickly integrate any new businesses or business units into RPI’s corporate structure.
  • To reduce the costs associated with staff administration duties as the business scales. There is a particular focus on reducing multiple points of data entry and reliance on MS Excel spreadsheets.
  • Increased time efficiencies with staff spending less time on manually intensive processes and administrative tasks.
  • Automation of reports to significantly improve data accuracy with the elimination of manual data input.
  • Decision-making tools so that KPIs can be measured and managed which will give RP increased operational and financial control.
  • Access to real time financial information to allow management to respond more quickly to changes in business conditions.

CMC then provided critical data conversation and Power BI and Reporting technical support as well as Project Management for the implementation of the ERP solution.
